Where Hope Remains
Curatorial Statement
Where Hope Remains brings together two distinct artistic perspectives that approach the human experience from different yet complementary directions.
Moses Zibor explores the invisible connections between humanity, nature, and the spiritual world, while O Yemi Tubi turns his attention toward the social and political realities that shape collective life. Though their subjects and approaches differ, both artists are deeply interested in emotion, human resilience, transformation, and the possibility of hope.
Zibor's vibrant colors, symbolic forms, and surreal compositions emerge from a space of imagination, memory, and spirituality. His work reflects on identity, inner strength, transformation, and the unseen forces that connect individuals to one another and to the natural world. His paintings invite viewers inward, encouraging contemplation of the emotional and spiritual dimensions of existence.
Tubi's practice engages more directly with the realities of the world around him. His paintings respond to conflict, displacement, inequality, environmental concerns, and the complex experiences of individuals and communities. Through symbolism, portraiture, and emotionally charged narratives, he transforms social and political subjects into deeply human stories, often revealing the struggle, dignity, and resilience within them.
Together, their works create a dialogue between the inner and outer worlds—between personal reflection and collective experience. One looks toward the spiritual forces that sustain and transform us; the other confronts the circumstances that test those forces. Yet both ultimately return to the human capacity to endure, imagine, and seek something better. Where Hope Remains invites viewers to consider how art can transform difficult experiences into reflection, awareness, and possibility, reminding us that even in moments of uncertainty, hope can remain a powerful source of connection and change.
ABOUT Moses Zibor
Moses Zibor (born 1978 in Lagos, Nigeria) is a Nigerian-Ghanaian visual artist based in Almaty, Kazakhstan. He is known for his richly colored, surreal, and spiritually infused paintings that explore the complexities of human experience, identity, and imagination. His work occupies a space between the visible and the unseen, drawing from personal memory, cultural heritage, and intuitive reflection. Through a distinctive visual language that merges symbolism with dreamlike compositions, Zibor creates immersive worlds where emotional depth and spiritual resonance intertwine. His practice reflects a continuous engagement with themes of transformation, connection, and inner awareness, positioning his work within a broader dialogue on contemporary identity and metaphysical exploration. Driven by a desire to uncover the invisible connections between humanity, nature, and the spiritual realm, Zibor approaches painting as both a personal and universal inquiry. His compositions are shaped by emotion, memory, and imagination, allowing each work to function as a narrative space where symbolic forms and vibrant color converge. Through surreal imagery, he constructs layered visual stories that speak to identity, resilience, hope, and inner strength. His use of color operates not only as an aesthetic choice but as an expressive force, amplifying emotional intensity and guiding the viewer through shifting psychological landscapes. By blending the tangible with the metaphysical, Zibor invites viewers into a contemplative experience that encourages introspection and a deeper awareness of the unseen forces shaping human existence.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My work embodies a dialogue between the vibrancy of life and the complexities of existence, drawing from my experiences as a Nigerian-born artist navigating the socio-political landscape of our time. Each piece serves as a reflection of the emotional currents that shape our world, influenced by both contemporary issues and the rich heritage of Renaissance artistry.
I am driven by a desire to confront the realities of our society, using my canvas to explore themes of conflict, identity, and resilience. The duality of "Roses and Thorns" encapsulates the essence of my artistic vision—where beauty coexists with struggle. This motif allows me to express the paradoxes inherent in life, portraying both the triumphs and tribulations that define our human experience.
Through my use of bold colours and intricate details, I aim to evoke a visceral response, inviting viewers to engage with the narratives woven into each composition. My work is not merely an aesthetic endeavour; it is a call to awareness, urging reflection on the pressing issues that affect us all. By intertwining personal and collective stories, I strive to create a space for dialogue and understanding. Ultimately, my art is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, celebrating the richness of life while acknowledging the challenges we face. Each painting is a chapter in an ongoing exploration of what it means to live in a world marked by both beauty and pain, inviting viewers to reflect on their own journeys within this intricate tapestry of existence.
