Stephanie is a largely self-taught mixed-media artist based in Alvin, Texas, where she works from her home studio. What began as a simple effort to decorate her home gradually evolved into a passionate artistic practice. Working with oils, watercolor, and metal foil on a variety of surfaces, Stephanie creates works that explore memory, emotion, and the quiet narratives found in everyday life. Inspired by faith, nature, and family, her paintings invite viewers into intimate moments that reflect shared human experiences and personal growth.

Solo Exhibition —Where Stories Take Root
By Sfumato

Where Stories Take Root brings together a collection of works that reflect Stephanie’s deeply personal artistic journey. What began as a practical endeavor—creating artwork to furnish her home and gifts for loved ones—has grown into a thoughtful and evolving practice rooted in curiosity, emotional reflection, and storytelling.

Working across mixed media including oils, watercolor, and metal foil, Stephanie develops layered compositions that merge texture with narrative. Each artwork carries a story: sometimes a self-portrait, sometimes a quiet landscape, or a moment that captures the bond between people across generations. Through these humble yet powerful subjects, her work speaks to universal experiences—memory, growth, connection, and reflection.

For Stephanie, art is less about the final destination and more about the process of discovery. Her practice is guided by experimentation and an openness to change, allowing each piece to develop naturally over time. This commitment to the process mirrors her own personal evolution, as her art has grown alongside her emotional and spiritual awareness.

Nature, faith, and family remain central sources of inspiration. An ancient tree may symbolize endurance and memory, while a simple moment shared between a child and a grandparent reflects continuity and care. In these quiet scenes, Stephanie invites viewers to recognize the significance of everyday life and the stories that quietly take root within it.

Ultimately, Where Stories Take Root is an exhibition about growth—both artistic and personal. It encourages viewers to look inward and outward at once, to see the environments and experiences around them not merely as moments passing by, but as meaningful parts of a larger, evolving narrative. Through sincerity and thoughtful craftsmanship, Stephanie’s work reminds us that transformation often begins in the most ordinary places.
